The Municipality of Grey Highlands is having an excellent year in terms of local building activity.
At its meeting on Nov. 6, Grey Highlands council received the third-quarter building statistics report from the municipality’s building department. The numbers showed that building activity rebounded from a slow start to the year in the third quarter.
Through the end of Sept., Grey Highlands had recorded strong construction numbers.
At the end of Sept. 2024, the municipality had issued a total of 363 building permits with a total construction value of more than $60.8 million. The municipality also collected more than $420,000 in building department fees.
Most of the numbers exceeded those recorded during the same time period in 2023. At the end of Sept. 2023, Grey Highlands issued a total of 320 building permits with a total construction value of more than $59.5 million. Fees collected were in excess of $445,000.
At the end of Sept., Grey Highlands had issued 57 permits for new detached homes and 16 permits for townhomes. The municipality also issued 34 permits for additions, 12 permits for renovations and 28 permits for accessory buildings.
Building activity in the agricultural sector also continues to be strong for Grey Highlands. The municipality issues 25 permits for new buildings, six permits for accessory buildings, 11 permits for C4s (on farm diversified uses), 15 permits for additions and two permits for renovations.
