Work is continuing to fix some drainage problems in the Lora Bay area.

The town recently provided an update to local residents regarding ongoing improvements to the Boulder Channel drainage system within Lora Bay. The project is being managed by NG Lora Bay Limited and will address drainage deficiencies that have historically caused issues on local roads.

The project involves the following works on both the Lora Bay Golf Course and town property. See the attached map for further location details.

  1. Improvements to the existing ditch along the 10th hole (formerly the 1st hole) and installation of an additional culvert crossing the cart path at the 11th tee.
  2. Improvements to Boulder Channel from approximately 130 m northeast of West Ridge Drive to approximately 20 m southwest of West Ridge Drive and installation of an additional culvert crossing West Ridge Drive.
  3. Construction of an overflow ditch along the southeast side of the 18th hole (formerly the 9th hole), installation of a culvert crossing the cart path east of the 18th green, and grading improvements to the Georgian Trail where it meets Lora Bay Drive south of the 18th hole.
  4. Installation of an additional culvert crossing the gravel road in the 11th Concession road allowance south of Sunset Boulevard.
  5. Improvements to the outflow weir of the stormwater management pond located along the 11th hole (formerly the 2nd hole).
  6. The contractor will use the property identified as Plan 16M18 BLK 25 for staging, but no construction will occur at this location.

Construction is expected to be completed by late summer 2023. However, this schedule is subject to change based on factors such as inclement weather and unforeseen conditions. Work will be completed in accordance with the town noise bylaw between the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No work is scheduled to be completed on weekends.

There will be temporary lane closures on West Ridge Drive to facilitate a culvert installation and on the Georgian Trail to facilitate grading improvements. Access will be maintained at all times, and no closures will be required.

A utility investigation conducted prior to construction indicated that watermain works would not be required on West Ridge Drive; if the situation changes, further information will be provided regarding potential interruptions to water services.
