The fourth annual Grey Highlands Rodeo raised more than $35,000 for the Centre Grey Hospital Foundation.

At its meeting on July 3, Grey Highlands council approved a staff report that authorized the release of the proceeds from the Grey Highlands RAM Rodeo to the Centre Grey Hospital Foundation in the amount of $35,173 as part of the municipality’s continued commitment to the Markdale Hospital.

The popular rodeo was held in Feversham in May.

Members of the Centre Grey Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, several event sponsors, representatives of the RAM Rodeo, many of the volunteers who made this year’s event another success gathered with council and municipal staff for a special cheque presentation and celebration during the lunch break of the meeting.

The cheque presentation occurred outside the Grey Highlands municipal office in front of the new Markdale Hospital, which opened last fall.

Grey Highlands Mayor Paul McQueen said that for the fourth straight year, the entire community united to make the local rodeo happen.

“The Grey Highlands RAM Rodeo is a tribute to the power of community coming together to make good things happen. Our generous sponsors, our volunteers, and everyone who comes out to enjoy the excitement of the rodeo are what make this event so special and what allows us to continue to contribute to the new Markdale Hospital on your behalf,” said McQueen.

In the four years of the rodeo event, Grey Highlands has raised $122,000 for the hospital foundation as part of a $180,000 commitment.

Foundation representative Darlene Lamberti thanked the entire community for its support of the rodeo event.

“It is a fantastic event. We all love it,” she said.

The foundation uses the money raised to fund equipment and technological upgrades at Markdale Hospital.

Members of council took turns thanking the local business community for their generous contributions to the event. Rodeo sponsors include: Robert Porteous and Carrie Russell, Royal Lepage RCR Realty, Flesherton Concrete, CBM Aggregates, Bruce Power, Devonleigh Homes, Seeley and Arnill, Maxwell Stone, Grey County Federation of Agriculture, Wilton Sanitation and Maxwell Farm Service

Grey Highlands will host the fifth annual Grey Highlands RAM Rodeo on May 24 and 25, 2025.
