The Municipality of Grey Highlands is informing residents of potential disruptions related to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers strike that was initiated on Friday, Nov. 15.
Mail delivery to and from the municipality is expected to be significantly delayed and/or stopped completely for the duration of the strike.
On water, tax, and other bills and payments the municipality is reminding the public:
- You are responsible for paying your bills on time, even if you do not receive your bill in the mail.
- If you need your balance owing, contact the Finance Department. If you call in and get sent to voicemail, please leave a message with your name, phone number and street address so that staff may return your call.
- We do not recommend mailing your bill payment in the mail. Instead, use an alternative payment option, such as through your bank or financial institution. If you are paying in cash, you will need to come into the municipal office during regular business hours to pay - do not put cash in the drop box.
For more information contact the Finance Department at 519-986-2811 ext. 400 or [email protected]
Grey Highlands encourages all residents to consider switching to paperless billing as a more convenient and efficient alternative.
Grey Highlands notes there are a number of advantages to paperless billing including:
- Instant access: receive your bills and statements directly in your email—no more waiting for postal delivery.
- Environmentally friendly: help reduce paper waste and contribute to a greener planet.
- Secure and convenient: manage your billing online with secure access to your account anytime, anywhere.
Residents can easily sign up for eBilling for property tax and/or utility accounts through the municipality’s online self-serve portal found online here. This system allows residents to view their account status, access current and prior bills, and sign up for pre-authorized payment plans. To enrol, residents will require their property tax PIN, which can be found on their property tax and utility bill.
For planning services the municipality notes:
- Notices issued by the committee of adjustment for minor variance applications and consent applications will be posted to the municipal website or distributed in another suitable manner.
- Planning notices will continue to be posted to the planning webpage here, and physical signs will still be posted on the property.
