Here's what's coming up for TBM council this week

The first week in February is going to be a busy one for The Blue Mountains council.

Over the first two days of the week, council is holding a series of committee of the whole meetings along with a special council meeting to finish off the agenda for the Jan. 27 meeting. That meeting went long and council spent the time finishing off the 2025 budget process.

The busy week will kick off on Feb. 3, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. with committee of the whole meetings for Administration, Corporate and Financial Services, Strategic Initiatives and Community Services.

The fun for council continues on Feb. 4 starting at 9:30 a.m. Council will hold committee of the whole meetings for Operations and Planning and Building Services.

Later in the day on Feb. 4, council has a special meeting scheduled to start at 1 p.m. This meeting is being held to complete the agenda of the regular meeting of council held on Jan. 27.

The meeting will include:

  • Council will consider a letter from Jim Oliver, Chair of The Blue Mountains OPP Detachment Board, requesting that council consider remuneration for board members
  • Council will hear a notice of motion from Coun. Alex Maxwell about property tax relief and incentive programs
  • Council will hear a notice of motion from Coun. June Porter about holding a budget “pitch day” for local community groups to come directly to council to request financial support
