Outbreak at Thornbury long-term care facility declared over

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has confirmed the COVID-19 outbreak at Errinrung has been resolved

The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) has confirmed Errinrung, the long-term care facility located in Thornbury in the Town of the Blue Mountains (TBM), is no longer in outbreak status.

The health unit had declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Errinrung on Sept. 25 and declared it over today. There was a single staff case and no secondary transmission detected via COVID testing.

Today’s situation report also indicated two new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. Both cases are located in Kincardine.

The current cumulative total in the GBHU is now 152, with six active cases.

TBM’s cumulative case count remains at eight, with the last case in the municipality being reported on Sept. 25.

There are currently no cases hospitalized in the region. There are also no active COVID-19 outbreaks in any daycares, schools or long-term facilities in GBHU.

GBHU continues to be one of the only health units in Ontario to have no deaths as a result of COVID-19.

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Grey County included - Owen Sound (59); Southgate (16); Meaford (13); West Grey (9); Blue Mountains (8); Grey Highlands (6); Georgian Bluffs (2); Hanover (2); Chatsworth (1). Bruce County has had 36 confirmed cases.
