The Town of The Blue Mountains is inviting community organizations to apply for the town’s Environmental Sustainability Fund.

This fund has an allocation of $8,000 that will be split between the successful applications, which demonstrate a clear goal of advancing environmental sustainability within the community.

There is a maximum of $5,000 available for any single project, meaning the fund will have at least $3,000 remaining for one or more smaller projects if the highest-scoring proposal receives $5,000.

To better support smaller projects, applicants no longer need to cover 80 per cent of the project’s value from other sources, with a minimum funding request of $1,000.

Past recipients have included Georgian Bay Forever, Treetrust TBM, Thornbury Community Gardens, Beaver Valley Community School, Climate Action Now Network, and Beaver River Watershed Initiative.

Their projects have included a wide range of project types including education programs, pilot projects, waste diversion initiatives, tree plantings, shoreline cleanups and public events, exemplifying how the town and community organizations can work alongside one another to foster environmental sustainability and build community connections.

Interested community organizations wishing to apply must submit their application no later than Dec. 2, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.To learn more about the town’s Environmental Sustainability Fund and to apply, please visit the project webpage here.
