The Blue Mountains council has approved spending an additional $18,275 on a project at Thornbury Harbour.

At its committee of the whole meeting on Aug. 9, council voted in favour of a staff recommendation to increase the budget for the replacement of ramp blocks for docks F, G and H at the harbour facility. The initial budget was $65,000, but staff requested an additional $18,275 for the project. The amount includes a 10 per cent contingency.

The extra money for the project will be funded from the Harbour Reserve fund. The town has made an application to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, which owns the harbour facility, for $23,000 to help pay for the project.

Council voted unanimously 5-0 in favour of the extra money for the work, with councillors Bill Abbotts and Jim Uram absent.
