The Blue Mountains council would like to have more up-to-date information about the status of capital projects in the town.

At its meeting on Feb. 18, council passed a resolution brought forward by Coun. June Porter to establish a new system for tracking the status of the town’s various capital spending projects.

In her resolution, Porter asked that council be provided with an updated list outlining the status of capital projects that had been approved.

“I think it would be very prudent to have a baseline of where projects are at,” said Porter, adding that such a detailed list would give council a transparent way to monitor the progress of various projects.

Monica Quinlan, director of finance/treasurer, said staff appreciated the resolution and said the finance department had a plan to formulate such a list to keep council apprised of how various projects were progressing.

Porter’s resolution was popular with other members of council and was approved in a unanimous vote.

“This is very important,” said Coun. Paula Hope. “This is yet another tool that will help council govern.”
