The Town of The Blue Mountains has hired a new director of corporate and financial services.

The town announced that Monica Quinlan has been hired for the position that has been open for the past several months. Quinlan started in the job on Sept. 3.

Quinlan will be responsible for all activities related to the corporate and financial services department, including financial planning, accounting, purchasing, risk management and information technology. She will also be responsible and accountable for all the duties of the treasurer in accordance with the Municipal Act and town policies. 

Quinlan comes to The Blue Mountains from the Town of Collingwood where she was director of finance/treasurer. In Collingwood, she oversaw budget management, financial reporting and audit processes. Her experience spans more than two decades across roles in municipal government and the automotive industry.

“I am delighted to welcome Monica to The Blue Mountains, and I look forward to the positive impact she’ll bring,” said Chief Administrative Officer Shawn Everitt. “Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable in her role. As we look forward to achieving our strategic goals as a municipality. I know our financial future is in great hands.”

Quinlan holds a CPA, CMA designation and an Honours Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting and Labour Studies. Her skill set includes expertise in financial software, strategic planning and team development.

The town’s news release said Quinlan moved to the local area in 2010 with her husband and four children.

“Embracing the community’s vibrant spirit and natural beauty. An active member of the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation Board, she is deeply committed to giving back to her community and supporting local initiatives,” the release said.
