Residents of The Blue Mountains will get their first glimpse of new draft official plan policies in June.
At council’s committee of the whole meeting on May 27, town planning staff provided an update about the ongoing five-year review/update of the town’s official plan.
Adam Smith, director of planning and development services, said staff plan to release draft official plan policy recommendations for public comment by the end of June.
“The summer months will allow an ample amount of time for individuals to provide comments,” said Smith.
The town has been working through the official plan update/review process for several years. Phase one of the project was completed in 2022 and Phase two got underway shortly after.
Smith said planning staff are aiming for a public open house about the draft policies in Sept. 2024. He said releasing the draft policies in June will allow plenty of time for the public to digest the changes to town planning policies being contemplated in the updated official plan.
Smith said a staff report with recommendations for changes to the official plan would come to council in late fall of 2024.
