The Grey Bruce Health Unit (GBHU) is reporting 32 new cases of COVID-19 today.
The new cases are located in: Saugeen First Nation (15), Owen Sound (5), Saugeen Shores (4), Arran-Elderslie (2), The Blue Mountains (2), Hanover (1), Huron-Kinloss (1), Kincardine (1) and Southgate (1).
Currently, there are 157 active cases in both counties combined and the health unit is tracking 286 high-risk contacts associated with the active cases.
The region has also had a total of 453 cases of Variants of Concern (VOC), 29 of which are active.
Active COVID-19 cases in Grey County are currently located in Owen Sound (34), Southgate (5), Blue Mountain (5), West Grey (1), Hanover (6), Meaford (15), Georgian Bluffs (2) and Chatsworth (9).
Of GBHU’s 1,611 cumulative cases, 1,447 cases are resolved. In addition, eight Grey-Bruce residents have died from COVID-19.
There are also 14 confirmed cases in hospital in Grey Bruce, as well as two Grey-Bruce residents being hospitalized outside of the region.
To date, the health unit has administered 154,026 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, 16,580 of which were administered in the past seven days.
According to GBHU, 71.1 per cent of the eligible population in Grey Bruce has received the first dose of the vaccine and 30.9 per cent have received both doses.
GBHU received a shipment of 11,424 vaccine doses on June 28, which was focused on vaccine distribution to first vaccine clients 12 and older; high-risk health care workers; First Nation/Metis Communities; immuno-compromised/pregnancy focused clinics; those with the highest and high risk health conditions; and other eligible priority groups.
All Ontarians aged 18 years or older are also now eligible to rebook their second-dose appointments for an earlier time.
Appointments can be made through the provincial online booking system for COVID-19 vaccinations at ontario.ca/bookvaccine.
In addition, GBHU has an app to assist Grey-Bruce residents in booking their COVID-19 vaccine appointments. The app is available free to download from Google Play and Apple Stores for all mobile devices and tablets.
