The Town of The Blue Mountains has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) to complete a Wastewater Master Plan (Master Plan) for the Town’s wastewater collection and treatment system. The Master Plan will provide guidance on short and long-term wastewater infrastructure improvements within the urban boundary of the Town. This study is being conducted according to the requirements of Phases 1 and 2 of the MCEA process which is an approved process under the Environmental Assessment Act. This Master Plan is being completed as an Approach 2 Master Plan with sufficient detail to fulfill the requirements for Schedule ‘B’ projects (e.g., new or upgraded sewage pumping stations, force mains, etc.).
Existing and future collection and treatment system deficiencies (Phase 1 of the Master Plan) were presented during Public Information Centre #1 held on May 23, 2024. As part of Phase 2 of this Master Plan, the Town is developing a set of infrastructure improvements required for future sanitary servicing needs, as well as proposed phasing for the implementation of these projects. Public Information Centre #2 is being held to present these proposed servicing alternatives, and to gather input from members of the public.
What: Virtual Public Information Centre (Microsoft Teams)
When: Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Beginning at 5:00 p.m.
About the Town-Wide Wastewater Master Plan
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the Town’s long-term wastewater treatment and collection system needs and identify a preferred solution to be implemented to improve the system to accommodate the Town’s growth. This process will help to identify system requirements and assist with long-term capital planning. Public and agency consultation is a key element of the process and input will be sought throughout the study to inform the evaluation and selection of the preferred wastewater servicing strategy.
