It is with great sadness that the Town of The Blue Mountains announces that Councillor Jim Uram passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon with his family by his side.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the entire Uram family,” said Mayor Alar Soever. “Jim was a dedicated member of Council who worked hard to strengthen and improve The Blue Mountains community”.
Councillor Uram was elected in 2018 and worked diligently on a wide variety of projects and initiatives throughout the Town. He also served as a representative on various Town committees, including the Official Plan Update Committee, Committee of Adjustment, Transportation Committee, Fence Viewers Committee and the Code of Conduct Review Committee. He also previously served as Councillor for the former Town of Thornbury in the 1990’s.
In his professional career, Jim was a Registered Professional Planner with over 40 years of experience who worked extensively in the Grey and Simcoe County areas in both municipal and private practice, including for the Township of Clearview, the Municipality of Meaford, the former Town of Thornbury, and the Town of The Blue Mountains from March 1999 to May 2005.
Flags at Town Hall have been lowered to honour the passing and legacy of Councillor Uram. A book of condolences will be available in the Town Hall atrium starting at noon on Wednesday. Further details regarding arrangements will be released when available.
