The Town of The Blue Mountains Celebrates Building Safety Month

Press Release - May 15, 2024
Town Hall Update generic

During the month of May, The Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to recognize Building Safety Month to celebrate the dedication of the building industry to keep homes, buildings, and infrastructure safe.

The Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) celebrates Building Safety Month across Ontario to bring awareness to the public of the Ontario Building Code, the importance in obtaining building permits and the efforts of municipal building officials. The vigilant professionals working to maintain this safety includes not only building officials, but also inspectors, fire prevention officials, architects, engineers, builders, tradespersons, design professionals and the entire construction industry.

Each of these professionals relies on the Ontario Building Code (OBC) to set the minimum standard for new construction, additions, and alteration to existing buildings. Ontario is known to have one of the best building codes in the world. It is because of this high standard that residents feel safe in the buildings where they live, work and play.

The Town extends its sincere appreciation to all building professionals for their integral role in ensuring the safety, strength, and growth of the community.
