The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that beginning next week a variety of safety and community reopening measures will be implemented to encourage physical distancing on Bruce Street South in Thornbury.
Of most significance, on Monday and Tuesday, the town will be installing barriers on Bruce Street South to restrict on-street parking. The purpose of the barriers is to temporarily increase the width of the sidewalk to allow for greater space for pedestrian traffic throughout the summer. In addition, banners have been ordered and will be installed on the barriers to improve the visual appearance within the coming weeks.
The town will also be installing signage to help direct traffic, along with additional safety and community reopening measures, including the installation of portable toilets, hand washing stations, bicycle racks, garbage containers, physical distancing sidewalk stickers, and benches. These community safety measures will be installed throughout June as the products become available. The town would like to thank residents and business owners for their patience and understanding as these measures are implemented.
“The addition of these measures is a strong and positive step forward in demonstrating that the town is focused on ensuring community safety”, explained Mayor Alar Soever. “The goal is to show the public that the Town of The Blue Mountains has prioritized community safety and that our businesses are ready to safely serve the public”.
