A new Collingwood case of COVID-19 has now been confirmed by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU).

The health unit reported today a man in his 30s from Collingwood tested positive for the virus and the transmission was community-acquired. He is self-isolating at home.

He is among the five cases reported without information yesterday by the health unit.

This is the second case in a Collingwood resident. The first case, a man in his 50s, has since recovered. The health unit ruled he got the virus through travel to the US.

SMDHU reports there are 71 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the region.

The health unit updated the case information on the website today to include stats for the most recent five cases.

Other than the Collingwood man, the remaining four cases came out of Barrie.

A Barrie woman in her 30s has been hospitalized, and acquired the virus through community transmission.

A Barrie woman in her 60s and another in her 20s are self-solating and are close contacts of another known case.

The final case is a Barrie man in his 20s, also a close contact of another known case. He is self-isolating.

By community, the health unit has confirmed the following positive cases:

Collingwood (2), Barrie (18), Orillia (9), Springwater (3), Clearview (2), New Tecumseth (7), Adjala-Tosorontio (2), Bradford West Gwillimbury (7), Essa (2), Innisfil (2), Wasaga Beach (1) Midland (2), Oro-Medonte (2), Tiny (2), Ramara (2), Gravenhurst (3), Muskoka Lakes (1), and Huntsville (4).
