Health unit confirms nine new COVID cases in Simcoe County

Another six cases in Barrie all in people aged 18 to 34 years old

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed nine new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County, including two in Orillia, six in Barrie, and one in Bradford. 

Orillia hasn't had a confirmed case since July 30. The two cases reported today include a man between 65 and 79 years old and a woman between 45 and 64 years old. The transmission source for both cases is under investigation. 

Another six cases have been confirmed in Barrie, all of them are men between the ages of 18 and 34 years old. Three of the cases are listed as close contact, one is community-acquired, and the other two are listed as under investigation. 

The new case confirmed in a Bradford West-Gwillimbury resident is a woman between 35 and 44 years old. The transmission source for her case is under investigation. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has now reported a total of 770 coronavirus cases in the region to date, with 728 of the cases in Simcoe County. Of all the cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, 674 are listed as recovered and 37 people have died. One person from New Tecumseth is in hospital.

The health unit reports there are 53 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County, including 39 in Barrie, three in Bradford, two in New Tecumseth, four in Innisfil, one in Wasaga Beach, one in Springwater, two in Orillia, and one in Ramara. There are six unrecovered cases in Muskoka District.
