A sign warns drivers of speed cameras in Bradford on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024.

CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letters were submitted in response to a story about Collingwood council considering speed cameras and a letter suggesting they shouldn't be used as a "cash grab" and another letter suggesting there should be speed cameras everywhere.

I totally agree with the use of cameras.

I live on 10th Concession and fought to have a 60 km/h once the Concession was resurfaced.

Many vehicles, some with loud exhausts speed on our section.

As a resident and cyclist, I think the increase in traffic volume and excessive speed are a problem.

Who cares if it's a cash grab as long as it slows the traffic down.

I absolutely agree with the letter writer on needing speed trap cameras and everywhere.

Especially in Collingwood along First St, Second Street, Oak Street, Third St, Fifth and Sixth Streets. They're also needed at Pretty River Parkway down by sunset in the bend, at High St, on Hwy 26 going to the bypass and especially the 60km/hr zone on Poplar Side Road from Beachwood Rd to 10th line. People seem to do up to 120km/h on Poplar.

We need these speed trap cameras yesterday!

Slow down, folks.
