The following letter is in response to an article about IBI Behavioural Services in Barrie, published Dec. 20.

My son also attends the same school. He attends two half-days a week. We get funding through the Ontario Autism Program.

It was a six-and-a-half-year wait to get that, which means my child went without access to such care that he so desperately needed when he was diagnosed just two weeks after he turned three.

His father (my ex) and I have been paying out of pocket for three-and-a-half years for him to do occupational therapy as well at one point some social work.

There is not enough funding for what our autistic children need. They have messed with too much of it and there is not enough to go around.
