The following letter is in response to a proposal to build an arts centre on the site of a Pine Street parking lot.

We are fortunate to have one of the most beautiful main streets in the province.

Credit must be given to the local merchants who have spent considerable money to restore and renovate their buildings. We are lucky that almost 100 per cent of our main street businesses are operational.

It is of utmost importance that council makes decisions that will help sustain the viability of our merchants. Taking away the parking on Pine Street would jeopardize accessible foot traffic, which our merchants need to survive.

Therefore, I am strongly opposed to taking away the parking lot on Pine Street. To do so would be an injustice to our main street businesses.
