A Blue Mountains-based charity has recognized two locals on a mission for their work to make good things happen in the community.

Beaver Valley Outreach presented a "Making Good Things Happen" award to Mike McCabe and Merlot Duncan-Cole, the founders of Scoop 2, last week.

The mission of Scoop 2 is to help get rid of dog waste left behind, and, as a result, protect the watershed, humans, and wildlife.

"This community award recognizes Scoop 2's outstanding contributions and our unwavering dedication to making a positive impact," states a news release from Scoop 2. "We are humbled and grateful for this recognition, and we remain committed to serving, educating and uplifting our community in every way possible. We will continue spreading our message on the importance of our watershed, the negative impacts of pet waste and litter on our pets and waterways, and encouraging others to 'Scoop 2.'"
