THUNDER BAY - A woman from Collingwood, Ont. who was first arrested in connection to the 2020 death of Seth Dionne near Nipigon is no longer facing charges.
Denise Harrison was first charged with operating a conveyance causing death on Aug. 23, 2020 following an investigation by officers with the Nipigon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.
The incident took place on Highway 11/17 near Stillwater Park at approximately 3:45 a.m. According to the OPP, when officers arrived a man was found unresponsive and transported to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The man was identified as 32-year-old Seth Dionne of Thornbury, Ont. Police said Dionne was outside of the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Harrison was arrested and charged with operating a conveyance causing death. Police said Harrison and Dionne were known to each other.
Harrison was granted bail on Aug. 27, 2020 and was required to reside with a surety in Southampton, Ont.
In a Thunder Bay Courtroom on Monday, the Crown withdrew the charge against Harrison. When reviewing a case, the Crown may elect to withdraw the charges if there is no reasonable prospect of conviction or if the charges are not in the public interest.
