WASAGA BEACH – Building a new arena and library continue to be one of town council’s top priorities for this term. At the March 7 Committee of the Whole meeting, council short-listed sites for a new library and arena.

There is now a list of seven potential sites for a new library. The town already owns one of the sites.

For the arena, committee approved a short-list of six sites, of which two are town-owned.

The sites identified on each list are located in the central, east and west parts of the town.

Committee short-listed the sites after receiving staff reports from library services director Pam Pal, as well as recreation, events and facilities director Chris Roos. Committee has now directed town staff to develop tools to further evaluate the sites on both lists and report back to Committee.

Staff will be meeting in the coming days to develop specific review criteria for the sites. See here to review staff reports from the open meeting regarding the sites.
