Strong women entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs abound in Central Ontario, and Georgian’s Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre (HBEC) is launching a program that will help support them and other local women entrepreneurs to reach a new level of success.
XcelerateHER is designed to address the gaps in support and resources that exist in the region. The program will help women get inspiration for their businesses through education with peer-to-peer groups, mentoring programs, panel discussions, funding accessibility, and more. It will be officially launched on Oct. 9 at Larche Digital in Barrie (576 Bryne Dr., Unit D).
“By attending this event, women entrepreneurs will learn about how this initiative will provide access to tools that can alleviate the pressures related to starting a business,” said Jenna Green, Events and Promotions Co-ordinator for HBEC.
Green, an entrepreneur herself, said she would have appreciated a program like XcelerateHER when she was starting her own business Georgian Chocolate Co.
“It would have given me a huge amount of confidence and inspiration to see a room full of inspiring women who are starting a business, growing a business or have been really successful in their business,” she explained. “It’s great to talk to like-minded people who are at various levels in their business life. There’s so much we can learn from them.”
The event is for women entrepreneurs and their partners, small- and medium-sized business owners and business leaders.
“This event is for any woman who would like to take her business to the next level or is looking for guidance to help scale and grow her business,” said Green. “It will also be beneficial for any local strong female entrepreneurs with lots of experience who are looking to work in the community with other entrepreneurs,” Green added.
XcelerateHER starts at 4:30 p.m. and will also feature refreshments, music and a Sip & Shop Marketplace with several women-founded businesses, including:
- Shiny Soul Creations
- Sizzle Sauce
- Honey BEE the Change
- Evergreen Massage and Wellness Studio
- Oh Beehive
- Georgian Chocolate Co.
- Luisella
- Two Sisters Naturals
“Women are amazing at being able to balance everything that we do,” said Green. “This event will definitely showcase that, along with everything else that makes female entrepreneurs uniquely talented and skilled business people.”
HBEC is launching the event in partnership with Larche Digital, the Sandbox Centre, the Township of Innisfil, and the City of Barrie.
