The second-annual Collingwood 10K race brought together the local community for a fantastic day of fitness, fundraising, and fun, successfully raising $4,000 for Hospice Georgian Triangle and thousands more for youth sports clubs who volunteered their time the day of.
With more than 400 participants in the 10K race and over 100 enthusiastic children taking part in the kids’ fun run, the event drew both competitive and recreational runners, families, and supporters of all ages.
The event showcased Collingwood’s vibrant spirit and strong community bonds as local residents and visitors came together to support meaningful causes while enjoying a beautiful run along Collingwood’s waterfront.
This year’s race built upon the success of last year’s inaugural event, growing both in participation and impact. The funds raised for Hospice Georgian Triangle will help support the continued compassionate care provided to patients at Campbell House and in our community.
Additionally, proceeds raised for the youth sports teams who volunteered will be reinvested into local programs, helping to make sports accessible for young athletes in Collingwood.
“This year’s Collingwood 10K has been a true celebration of community and giving,” said event organizer Mark Bechtel, co-owner of VO2 Sports Co. “Not only did we exceed our fundraising goals, but we also saw the incredible enthusiasm from everyone involved – from participants and volunteers to sponsors and spectators. The success of this event wouldn’t be possible without them.”
The Collingwood 10K is fast becoming a beloved annual tradition, with plans already in the works to make next year’s event bigger and better. The race organizers extend a heartfelt thank-you to all sponsors, volunteers, and participants who helped make this year’s race a tremendous success.
