NEWS RELEASE
COLLINGWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY
**************************
Collingwood Public Library is observing Climate Action Week for Public Libraries this Nov. 2-9.
Join libraries and other GLAM organizations across Canada to focus on the climate-change-related challenges and emergencies facing our communities. The goal is to raise awareness, answer our communities’ growing needs, and articulate clearly that libraries are places to connect people and access resources on climate change.
Join us on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6:45 p.m. for a conversation on climate, mental health and hope.
Climate Change is affecting us in many ways. Some we can clearly see, others maybe not so much.
The Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) recently stated health issues related to climate change are a growing concern, both physically and mentally. Organizations, physicians, psychologists, health networks and climate organizations are starting to mobilize and take action.
As part of Climate Action Week for Public Libraries, join in conversation with Lauren Jeffrey, community program coordinator for the South Georgian Bay Community Health Centre and Catherine Daw, board chair of the Collingwood Climate Action Team.
Come and hear about this increasingly important issue and what's happening from; climate networks, climate psychology alliances, and locally right here in our region.
Explore what Green RX prescriptions are and how climate cafes provide safe spaces to talk about climate change.
Children eight years old and up are invited to join our upcycling craft morning on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m.
