Collingwood students lead strike calling for climate action

Worldwide students walked out of school today, striking to call for urgent action on climate change

More than one hundred youth, children and adults met at town hall around 12:15 p.m. today to call for action on climate.

A group of high school and elementary students left Collingwood Collegiate Institute at noon today to march down Hurontario Street where they met other protestors at the town hall.

The group chanted phrases like "Fossil Fuels have got to go," and "The oceans are rising and so are we," and "A better world is possible and we are unstoppable."

Students walked out of school, carrying signs urging for action on climate change. You can read more about the protest and one of the student organizers here.

The group will continue to protest through the afternoon, calling for mass tree planting and an end to fossil fuel use.
