Coun. Brandon Houston will be taking a step back from his council duties.

To start their regular council meeting on Nov. 18, Mayor Yvonne Hamlin announced Houston’s leave.

“The town has received notice from Coun. Houston that he’ll be taking a temporary leave of absence from council due to personal reasons effective immediately,” said Hamlin.

Currently, Houston also sits as a director with the Collingwood BIA and serves as a member of the town’s economic development roundtable.

“Council will meet in the near future to discuss the necessity of any interim appointment during his absence,” said Hamlin. “We are respectful of Coun. Houston’s privacy and look forward to his return to the council table early in the new year.”
