The Women's Centre Grey Bruce is hosting its first-annual Charity Golf Classic this week.

The nine-hole scramble tournament with a shotgun start takes place at Legacy Ridge Golf Club on Thursday, July 4. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 per person, which includes golf, cart, and a roast beef dinner. The event also includes a roast beef dinner, raffle prizes and a 50/50 draw.

Heather Sheldrick, executive director of the women's shelter said the event will help build community partnerships and will also raise money for the Women's Centre Grey Bruce.

"Planning new events, like the Golf Classic, will help get the word out about our programs and services to support women, children and at-risk youth affected by abuse in Grey and Bruce Counties," said Sheldrick in a news release. "It is very rewarding to see our team's vision in planning this event come to fruition, and I hope the day is a great success."
