Man breaks into home, steals single cigarette, flees scene

BRACEBRIDGE - Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge Detachment are investigating after a man broke into a Bracebridge home over the weekend.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, a man attended a Bracebridge residence. Finding the house secure, he made a few attempts to gain entry.

Though he was finally successful in entering the home, he was confronted by the home owner inside. The suspect was removed from the premise after stealing one cigarette. The suspect then fled the scene while police were called.

Police responded immediately and with the help of witnesses were able to quickly identify the suspect.

Charged under the Criminal Code with Break and Enter, Theft under $5,000, Assault and Uttering Threats is 25-year-old Christopher Nuttley of Clearview Township. He will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 9 to answer to his charges.
