Both Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MP Alex Ruff and Simcoe-Grey MPP Brian Saunderson are collecting nominations for a new medal marking the coronation of King Charles III.

The Government of Canada has minted 30,000 coronation medals to be presented to Canadians.

MP Ruff will be accepting nominations for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound residents who have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region of, or community in, Canada, or attained an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to Canada. Candidates may only be awarded one coronation medal. As well, this medal can be awarded posthumously as long as the recipient was alive on May 6, 2023, the date of The King’s coronation.

Constituents of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound can be nominated by completing the form online or mailing/dropping off a completed form at Ruff's office.

Submissions will be accepted until Sept. 2, 2024.

Constituents of Simcoe-Grey can be nominated through MPP Brian Saunderson's office by emailing [email protected] or by dropping them off at one of Saunderson's offices in person until Aug. 31.

"Strong nominations will include a description of how the nominee contributed to the community through conservation, or collaboration, and/or compassion, and
should include detailed substantiation (including letters of support, news article references, and other documents)," states a news release from Saunderson.
