The Collingwood campaign will be going strong until noon on Dec. 24

Members of Collingwood council and staff and volunteers from Salvation Army in Collingwood raised the flag at the library flag pole on Dec. 19 proclaiming a week of awareness for the Salvation Army and the final week of the annual Kettle Campaign.

The Salvation Army will be collecting for its annual Kettle Campaign for less than five more days as Christmas approaches.

The local campaign, coordinated by Anne Wiley, has already raised $80,000. Last year the campaign raised $100,000.

The money helps the Salvation Army run programs like the Christmas hampers, which provided food and gifts to 300 families this year, the food bank, and drop-in resources for those who need them.

Major Calvin Collins said he and his team are grateful to the community for their generosity this year.

Wiley said the last kettle will be brought in on Christmas Eve at noon, so donations will be accepted until then.

If there's no volunteer collecting at the kettle, anyone can use the tap features with a credit or debit card, which will securely send the donation to the Collingwood Salvation Army.
