Preparatory work can take place for what will become a Sleep Country store in Collingwood located in the parking lot at the Galaxy cinema.
Collingwood building department staff confirmed permits for base building and site servicing have been issued, but the town has not been called for the first inspection.
Once a building crew has placed formwork and rebar, they are required to call the town for an inspection. Prior to this inspection, crews can undertake excavation work and install foundation forms.
Town staff confirmed they will be checking in on the project next week.
The 464-square-metre building will be constructed on the south eastern corner of the parking lot on the First Street extension side near Pizza Pizza. The plaza is at 2 Mountain Road and is known as the Blue Mountain Centre.
The developer of the site, Crestpoint Real Estate (Blue Mountain) Inc. applied for a site plan application in June 2019.
There is a construction trailer and fencing set up in the Galaxy Cinema parking lot.
