Theatre Collingwood is bringing back a local favourite, Scottish-Canadian tenor John McDermott, for a local holiday performance.

The event, A Season to Celebrate, will take place at New Life Church on Nov. 23 with a 3 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. show. It marks the launch of Theatre Collingwood's Christmas season, part of the company's 40th anniversary year.

McDermott will be joined on stage by Drew Jurecka, Maury LaFoy, and Jason Fowler.

"John McDermott is not only a Canadian treasure but also a global star, renowned for his heartwarming voice and captivating performances. With over 25 albums to his name—three of which have gone platinum—his concerts are always met with enthusiastic sell-outs," states a news release from Theatre Collingwood.

McDermott has been featured at Toronto Maple Leafs games where he sings the national anthem, and is the recipient of the US Congressional Medal of Honour Society's Bob Hope Award.

“John McDermott’s silky voice is as beautiful today as it was 30 years ago,” said Theatre Collingwood's executive director, Erica Angus, in the news release. “Working with him is a joy, and we can't wait for his new show to kick off everyone’s holiday season in the most beautiful way.”
