The Town of Collingwood has announced this year's recipients recipients for the Order of Collingwood.
There are five volunteers receiving the order at the annual New Year's Mayor's Levee, including Susan Brindisi, Doug Linton, D. Barry Manchester, Paulina Monette and Mark Rich.
Additionally, Sheila Stewart, who is a 2013 recipient of the Order of Collingwood, is receiving a Companion to the Order of Collingwood for her continuing volunteer contributions since receiving the order.
The Order of Collingwood is presented annually to people who volunteer in the community and therefore "enrich the social, well-being, natural or cultural environment, or recreational character of the town," states a news release from the Town of Collingwood.
The Companion to the Order is given to former Order of Collingwood recipients who continue to volunteer and improve the community.
“Please join Council and me in celebrating this year’s recipients at the upcoming Mayor’s Annual New Year’s Levee. It is a proud moment for our community as it recognizes the amazing contributions of these special volunteers,” stated Mayor Yvonne Hamlin in the town's news release.
The Order of Collingwood awards will be presented Jan. 14 during the levee at Georgian Bay Hotel. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. and all are welcome.
