The Town of Collingwood has put out a call to the community for "modest income earners" interested in joining a task force focused on affordable housing in the community.

The affordable housing task force is looking to add to its membership and help accomplish its work providing feedback to the town on affordable housing related matters.

The task force is a citizen-led group that serves as an "elevated stakeholder" in the town's work around affordable housing.

According to a news release from the town, the group helps promote affordable housing initiatives and collaborates with the town in identifying and addressing the challenges and opportunities related to affordable housing.

Members of the task force will also participate in community events, workshops and outreach activities to help raise awareness and educate the public about affordable housing.

The town is looking for the following skills and experience for future task force members:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in community engagement and organizing community events
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement
  • Individuals with lived experience as a member of a middle income household that has experienced challenges securing appropriate housing would be an asset

To apply for the affordable housing task force, visit the town website here.
