Join Canadians from coast to coast and celebrate National Health and Fitness Day at Collingwood's Central Park on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m until 1 p.m.
Take part in a morning of play for all ages. Try a new activity or have fun playing something you already enjoy.
With over 20 free activities, there is something on offer for everyone. Activities will run throughout the morning. Enjoy the imagination playground, seed planting, pickleball, and cycling, with larger group events scheduled hourly.
“A showcase activity this year will be our National Health & Fitness Day Dance Party with Tyler Boyle” said Jennifer Parker one of the event organizers with Parks, Recreation and Culture.
Looking for lunch or a snack? Venture over to Central Park Arena and visit the Collingwood Youth Centre canteen and barbecue. Enjoy delicious breakfast sandwiches, burgers, salads, and tasty treats.
The Collingwood YMCA will also be hosting a community day in support of National Health & Fitness Day. Please bring photo identification if you are not a member of the YMCA and are over the age of 18.
National Health & Fitness Day launches Parks and Recreation Month promoting the benefits of healthy living, showcasing activities available in the community.
Throughout the month of June explore Collingwood’s trails and outdoor green spaces. There are multiple physical and mental health benefits for adults and children associated with outdoor recreation.
Take a walk along the Train Trail and follow the journey of Josephine-ba Mandamin on her walk to raise awareness of our need to protect our water resources for future generations and life on the planet.
Enjoy the amazing outdoor places in our community throughout June and celebrate Parks & Recreation month.
About National Health & Fitness Day
On National Health & Fitness Day, municipalities and residents hold events to celebrate and promote the use of local health, recreational, sports, and fitness facilities. The objective is to inspire Canadians to become fitter and more active which will result in reduced health care costs attributed to preventable disease related to inactivity.
