Wild orchids are rare due to the specific conditions required for an orchid to grow and bloom in the wild

A nature-lover and trails enthusiast spotted a rare sight while out on one of Collingwood's nature trails this week. 

These wild orchids - of the lady slipper variety - are growing just off the beaten path. 

Wild orchids are, to put it mildly, finicky. They require specific growing conditions and are easily destroyed if picked or trampled.
