The reigning National Champion Collingwood Blues opened their season Friday night at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena taking on the Mississauga Chargers. 

Blues forward Talan Palmer scored the team's first goal of the 2024/25 season, assisted by Hunter Nagge and Alexis Boiley. The score was tied at the end of the first period.

The Blues turned up the heat in the second, with four consecutive goals by Captain Marcus Lougheed, Ethan Facchina and two from new recruit Kenny Belanger.

The action continued into the third, as the Blues netted three more, thanks to Belanger, Lougheed and Will Hughes.

It was an unforgettable evening for Sault Ste. Marie forward Kenny Belanger, who earned a hat trick in his first game in front of Blues nation.

The crowd saluted their hometown heroes and thanked them for their efforts in beating the Chargers by a score of 8-2.
