3 more arrested in Meaford for 'rash of property crime'

Police arrested three more people in connection with an investigation into a "rash of property crime" in Meaford. 

Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police and the Community Street Crime Unit searched a home on Marshall Street on July 25 at 3:28 p.m. as part of the investigation.

While searching, officers discovered two firearms, a 22-calibre rifle, a pellet gun, kitchen appliances and three bicycles. In total, police seized about $22,000 worth of items. 

At the time of the search, police confirmed they arrested one suspect, Christopher Bikker, 43, of Meaford, who now faces several charges. 

Today, (Aug. 9) police announced three more people now face charges, including Nicole Swann, 36, Matthew Springer, 37, and Ronald Beam-Osborne, 70, all from Meaford. 

Swann was charged with the following: 

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under (five counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

Springer was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under (five counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

Beam-Osborne was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under (five counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation - Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

The accused parties were released and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on September 5, 2024.
