Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a driver of a stolen vehicle and charged the male with numerous offences in the Town of Collingwood.

On Nov. 29, 2024 just after noon members of Collingwood OPP were conducting general patrol in the area of Cameron Street in the Town of Collingwood. At which time the driver of an Acura TXT was stopped for Highway Traffic Act violations. Shortly thereafter officers began a stolen motor vehicle investigation upon determining that the VIN (vehicle identification number) had been altered, effectively hiding the vehicle's identity and the fact that it was stolen.

A 26-year-old of Mississauga was charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (2 counts)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive with window coated - view obstructed
  • Drive motor vehicle, no vehicle identification number

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood at a future date.
