Complaint, ditched ATVs prompt list of charges against Collingwood, Wasaga men

Three men on ATVs in Wasaga Beach face a list of charges after police investigated a complaint and located two of the ATVs in a ditch.

Area OPP officers responding to a complaint found two ATVs in a ditch and another nearby and slapped the drivers with impaired-related charges. 

According to a news release from the Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, three people now face impaired driving related charges after someone reported three ATVs being driven dangerously on Wasaga Beach roads. 

Police say the call came in at 8:29 p.m. on Feb. 3, and officers located the three ATVs – two of them in a ditch – on Toner Street in Wasaga Beach. 

"After a brief discussion with the drivers, the officers conducted an impaired driving investigation," states the news release. 

A 30-year-old man from Wasaga Beach was arrested and charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80. He was also charged with using a plate not authorized for the vehicle, unlawfully driving an off-road vehicle on a highway, driving a motor vehicle without a licence, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. 

A 28-year-old man, also from Wasaga Beach was charged with operation with blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs. He was also charged with unlawfully driving an off-road vehicle on a highway and failing to surrender a licence. 

A 29-year-old from Collingwood was charged with operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration over 80 and operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs. He was also charged with driving while under suspension. 

All three accused are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
