Local police officers arrested and charged a Collingwood driver found circling a roundabout in the wrong direction.

According to a news release from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, officers spotted the vehicle going the wrong way and pulled it over on Nov. 4 just before midnight.

"During the traffic stop the officer suspected that the driver had consumed alcohol. An approved screening device breath sample was completed roadside and ultimately lead to a fail," states the news release.

"The driver, a 22 year-old male from Collingwood, was transported to detachment for a breath test where it was determined his blood/alcohol concentration was 1.5 times the legal limit."

Police confirmed the same man was arrested on Aug. 4 and charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle collision.

The latest charges include one count of operation while impaired -- alcohol and drugs, and one count of operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for driving a vehicle with no licence.

The accused received a 90-day drivers' licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The man will face the charges in court later.
