Huronia West OPP charged four people with impaired-related offences between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a vehicle in a ditch on Forbes Road in Springwater Township. Witnesses on scene believed the driver was intoxicated. The driver, a 48-year-old Barrie woman, was charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

At about the same time, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach and detected an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The driver, a 51-year-old Thornbury man, failed a roadside screening test and was charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

Just after midnight, an officer stopped a vehicle on Highway 26 in Springwater and suspected the driver had been drinking. The 25-year-old Scarborough man failed a roadside test and was charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus), being a novice driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero, and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

At about 2 a.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in Elmvale. They spoke with the lone occupant in the driver’s seat and believed her to be impaired. The 32-year-old Elmvale woman failed a roadside test and was charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

Each driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
