One dead, three injured in Sunday afternoon Springwater crash

Investigation is ongoing as police seek witnesses, dash cam or surveillance footage

TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH - The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal two vehicle collision in Springwater Township.

On Nov. 3, 2024 at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of the Huronia West OPP with assistance of Springwater Fire and Simcoe County EMS responded to a report of a serious collision involving two vehicles on Penetanguishene Road.

Sadly, as a result of the collision, a 43-year-old driver was confirmed deceased on scene by EMS. The 45-year-old driver, along with the 50-year-old and 14-year-old passengers in the other involved vehicle were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The two adults were later transported by ORNGE Air to a trauma centre in Toronto.

A section of Penetanguishene Road was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
