OPP investigating attempted murder after drive-by shooting in Springwater

No injuries reported; police say two suspicious vehicles were parked on Rainbow Valley Road, then travelled westbound toward County Road 27

No injuries were reported following a drive-by shooting on Rainbow Valley Road in Springwater Township early Sunday morning.

Huronia West OPP says officers are investigating an attempted murder after shots were fired at a home, located north of Barrie in the Apto area, around 12:18 a.m. on Oct. 13. 

"Investigators believe this was an isolated incident. However, with a firearm involved, the OPP urges the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times," police stated in a news release. 

An hour earlier, at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 12, police say there were two suspicious vehicles reportedly parked on Rainbow Valley Road, which then travelled westbound toward County Road 27.

Police say one of the vehicles is a dark red SUV which was missing a side-view mirror, possibly a Mazda from 2017 to 2024. The other vehicle is described as a full-size SUV, possibly grey in colour.

The OPP is asking anyone in the area of Rainbow Valley Road, between Baseline Road and County Road 27, to check, save and secure any potential video evidence from devices at their homes between Oct. 12 at 11 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 3 a.m.
