Owen Sound resident facing charges after arrest in Meaford

A 35-year-old from Owen Sound is facing numerous charges after police received a complaint that he was squatting in a vacant house

On Aug. 26, 2020 Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint that an unknown person was squatting in a vacant house at 25 Sideroad, in the Municipality of Meaford.

Officers attended this property and located a wanted party on the premises, who was subsequently arrested. This individual was currently bound by multiple court orders.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Bradley Doherty, 35 years of age, from Owen Sound with the following offences:  

  • Failure to comply with undertaking, section 145(4)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Three counts of failure to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CC
  • Possession of property obtained by crime - under $5,000, section 354(1)(a) CC
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling house, section 349(1) CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Nov. 5, 2020.
