Police charge driver after vehicle found 'half in snowbank'

A citizen reported a Ford Escape being driven with the hatch open and committing 'several traffic violations'

Police have charged a female driver after finding a vehicle in a snowbank and getting a tip from a citizen of a Ford Escape being driven "with the hatch open." 

According to Collingwood OPP, a citizen called in the report around 4 p.m. on Feb. 5, and noted the vehicle was committing "several traffic violations." 

A Collingwood officer found the vehicle "halfway into a snowbank" at Beachwood Road and Bellholm Lane, according to the news release from OPP. 

"Further investigation led to the officer arresting the female driver for impaired driving," states the release. 

A 55-year-old woman from Wasaga Beach will face the following charges in court: 

55-year-old Rhonda Norlander of Wasaga Beach, ON has been charged with:

  • Failure or Refusal to comply with Demand (Criminal Code)
  • Having care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available (Cannabis Control Act)
  • Fail to Yield to Traffic (Highway Traffic Act)

Police seized the vehicle the woman had been driving and it's been impounded for seven days.
