Traffic tip leads to impaired driving charges in Wasaga Beach

A 44-year-old Wasaga Beach man has been arrested and charged with impaired driving and driving while under suspension

The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On December 3, 2024, at approximately 8:40 a.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

Officers patrolled the are but were not able to locate the vehicle.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., officers where dispatched to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) at 33rd Street North and McCague Street in Wasaga Beach. Officers located the unattended vehicle and shortly thereafter located the driver where they conducted an impaired driving investigation. As a result, a 44-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and Drugs
  • Driving While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
